Here's exactly what happens to what you tell Rhythm.
Most apps make you take privacy on faith. We'd rather just show you the mechanics, because the product doesn't work unless you can be honest in it, and you can't be honest with something you don't trust.
The short version

- What you write is stored in a form no human can read, including the two of us who built Rhythm.
- Nothing you write is sold or shared.
- When you use Rhythm, it asks a model for a reply. That ask goes without your name or account attached.

- There are no ads here, and there never will be, because that business would need your conversations and we're not building it.
Who can read my conversations?
No human, us included.
Your messages are stored encrypted, so nobody at Rhythm can browse them, not while building the product and not out of curiosity. What we can see is counts and usage: how many messages, which features get used, whether something crashed.
One thing worth being precise about, since most companies leave it vague: we use automated software to read messages to tag topics like work, relationships, or self-improvement. That process is fully automated and de-identified. No person sees the content, and only aggregate patterns come out of it. That's how we learn what Rhythm is actually being used for without reading anyone's conversations, which helps us improve the product without sacrificing your privacy.
Does Rhythm train AI on what I say?
We don't sell your conversations, share them, or hand them to anyone for advertising.
Rhythm runs on models built by OpenAI and Anthropic. When Rhythm sends your conversation to one of them to generate a reply, your name and your account don't go with it. What arrives on the other end is a request without your name or account attached.
What happens when I delete something?
It's gone, at the press of a button.
Open Settings in your Rhythm app and tap delete. Your account and all your conversations are removed automatically. If you'd rather a human handled it, email support@meetrhythm.app.
Can I use Rhythm without creating an account?
Yes. Download the app, set up how your first Rhythm sounds, and start talking. No email, no signup. Ten messages each time you open it.
Nothing saves, though, so closing the app clears both your Rhythm and the conversation. Making an account is what keeps them.
Is it locked to me?
Once you create an account, you log in with your account details, or use Face ID or fingerprint to secure your conversations.
How does this impact the environment?
Rhythm runs on real energy in real data centres. What we can do is not waste it.
There's nothing in Rhythm engineered to keep you on longer than you meant to be: no ads to serve, no streaks, no badges, no nudges we don't think help you. Every conversation Rhythm has is one somebody actually wanted or needed.

Frequently asked questions
Can anyone at Rhythm read my messages?
No human can. Conversations are stored encrypted, so nobody at Rhythm can browse them. Automated software tags topics in a de-identified way to produce aggregate insights, and no person sees the content.
Does Rhythm sell my data or show ads?
No. Rhythm makes money one way, through a subscription you choose. There are no ads and your conversations are never sold or shared.
